Life is a challenge, and all of us can name someone in our circle of friends and family who is coping with issues of mental health or substance abuse.

No one in need is ever turned away from New Horizons. For that reason, we depend on our community to help us.

Your gift to New Horizons directly benefits someone on the road to recovery and resilience. When you assist in underwriting needed services not covered by insurance or government programs, you also give our clients the knowledge that members of their community support them in their efforts to become productive citizens.

The Frances Langford Foundation donated $1 million to New Horizons to construct our Midway Campus’s Children’s Crisis Unit. Thousands of children and adolescents and their families have been helped in the Frances Langford Children’s Crisis Unit since 2010.

In 2016, New Horizons was the grateful recipient of a transformational grant from Indian River Impact 100, which made possible the opening of the Indian River Learning Center in Vero Beach. Indian River Impact 100 is a membership organization of over 400 women committed to improving Indian River County by pooling $1,000 donations from each member, enabling the group to make significant $100,000 grants to other local nonprofit organizations that will impact our community.

The Learning Center offers a variety of life skills classes in budgeting, cooking, hygiene, accessing community resources, development of coping skills, pre-employment / vocational skills, and evidence-based curriculums focusing on recovery.  Research indicates that this type of psycho-social rehabilitation program reduces the number of hospitalizations, arrests, and incarcerations in a community, thereby transforming the lives of individuals in recovery from mental illness and the entire populace. New Horizons also operates a Learning Center in Fort Pierce.

A family in Fort Pierce donated $25,000 to improve our facility on Ixoria Avenue, where clients gather daily and learn skills that help them live independently and become productive members of their community.

A family in Indian River donated $25,000 for a van to transport our clients in Indian River County, where getting to services sometimes created an insurmountable obstacle to their receiving needed treatment.

The Sons of Italy Palm City Lodge donated $10,000 to cover the costs of mental health care for those with no ability to pay.

Each year during the Annual Appeal, individuals and foundations provide financial support to New Horizons to show their confidence in the organization’s programs and to make sure that friends and neighbors continue to receive the care they need.
